Mabrian’s indexes show the tourist’s perception regarding Tunisia during the second half of 2017 in various key aspects, including security (Security Perception index (PSi).
This index’ positive evolution can explain the fact that the destiny’s touristic offer in this destiny has increased considerably, and also has become a clear competitor against the Mediterranean traditional destinations.
Mabrian’s Security Perception index (PSi) for Tunisia indicated, between July and December 2017, a very positive valuation (92,36 points, on a scale of 100), but showing fluctuations with a difference of up to 10 points during this period.
Highlights among these fluctuations the drastic fall of the PSi index down to 60 points observed at the end of the year, after the arrest of nine people accused of belonging to a terrorist group, in a province bordering Algeria.
On the other hand, it is also remarkable the good valuation that Tunisia gets respect to other satisfaction indicators calculated by Mabrian, like the tourist’s Global Satisfaction index (GTPi), set on 85,53 points of 100, or the 71,61 points that reflect its satisfaction index with the touristic product TPi).
These indicators reflect Tunisia’s good situation to compete in a very demanding market. Nevertheless, there is still an existing difference in terms of perception indexes that are collected, among other competitor destinations.
In Mallorca’s case, for example, that has traditionally been a refuge destination when other destinations had instability times, all the commented reference indexes mark certain positive differential with the ones from the African destination, in addition to a greater stability degree of the same, specially the security one (PSi), which is clearly shown in the graph of its temporal evolution. The indexes collected in Mallorca during the same period are: GTPi 88,22; TPi 78,47; PSi 95,87.
The PSi is calculated with PNL advanced techniques (Natural Language Processing) that allow to obtain, through algorithms which are specialised and equipped with Artificial Intelligence, the sentiment of the collected touristic mentions done by the destination’s users. The PSi is configured inversely: all destinations start from value 100, that decreases depending on the negative touristic mentions referred to security perception with the destiny.
